Exodus is one of the best and most reliable streaming add-ons in Kodi. We know many people with SkyStream boxes use this add-on quite a bit. With that in mind, we created a video on how to make Exodus even easier to use. We will say that we recommend Real Debrid for this because of the consistency of the links. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY!

SkystreamX Kodi Updater – When to use it!

Kodi Updater

Everything you need to know about the SkystreamX Kodi Updater When we started out designing the Kodi updater (Latest Version Installation Instructions HERE, The Old Version No Longer Works!) we were looking for something that all of our customers could use to stay up to date with the latest versions of Kodi and all of the latest Kodi Addons. So far the feedback has been very positive and we are very proud of how well the program works. With the latest version of our updater all of our customers can seamlessly upgrade to Kodi 16.1. The newest version of Kodi, Newer versions of Kodi will be added once they are released and are tested for compatibility and stability. Users can also choose a build (Adult or Family Friendly) and have Kodi completely loaded in a matter of minutes. If you just want to know when to run the updater and when to not run the updater, scroll down a bit. How the Kodi Updater works There are lots of moving parts to the Kodi Updater and how it works is actually pretty complicated. But for this article we will keep it pretty basic. Kodi Version Update The Kodi updater can see if you have Kodi installed on your Skystream Android TV Box. If it detects that any version (All older versions included) of Kodi is installed it will just give you the option to install the build of your choice. However if the program does not see any version of Kodi installed on your unit, it will give you the option to “Install Media Center.” When you click on install media center it will begin to download the SkystreamX version of Kodi in the back ground. Once it is downloaded the user will need to go to My Apps or All Apps from the boxes home screen. Then open up the “App Installer” application, click on Local and then click on Kodi and Install. Once Kodi is installed you can now open up the Kodi updater app and choose the build that you want to load into Kodi. Kodi Updater Builds As some of you know, we use the RSS feed at the bottom of Kodi’s home screen to notify our customers when a new build is updated. When you see that date change in the RSS feed, you are able to open the Kodi updater and click on the updated build that you want to install. The updater will detect if you have the latest build installed in Kodi. If you already have the latest build already installed, the updater app will automatically open Kodi as there is no updated build to install.   Kodi Addons Automatically Update Before we start listing the scenarios when not to use the updater, we need to do a brief explanation of How Kodi Addons and Kodi Play together. All of our Android TV Boxes come with Kodi that has the addon developers repositories installed (Many Box Sellers do not!). These repositories are…

Evolve Kodi Addon

Evolve Kodi Addon

Evolve Kodi Addon There is a new Kodi addon on the block called Evolve. It was included in the latest update to the Skystream Kodi updater. It is not listed on the home screen of Kodi because we just simply ran out of spots. If you want to use the Evolve addon simply hover your cursor over the video section and click on Add-ons. The addons will be listed in Alphabetical order from A-Z on your SkystreamX Android TV Box. Evolve is one of a few recent addons that are a little different than normal addons that scrape servers and provide lists of links to the stream sources like Exodus, 1Channel and Velocity. The Evolve Kodi addon is very similar to Phoenix and VidTime. All of these Kodi addons have multiple developers who have their own section where they post links to all different kinds of content. Some of them specialize in Live TV, some focus on Concerts and documentaries and some of them have links to lots of content on Youtube. The Evolve Kodi Addon has a total of 8 developers that contribute to this addon. Each of them have their own section and each of them provide mostly different types of content. Here are some screen shots of the Evolve Addon and each developers section. Evolve Kodi Addon Homepage Evolve Goliath Evolve Kraken Evolve Gorgon Evolve Trapper Evolve Hank Evolve Slim Evolve Markov Evolve Parnell There is one small thing that we should mention about the Evolve Kodi addon. When you click on certain links (Mainly Live TV links) you will sometimes get a captcha like screen. This pop up will show you 9 pictures and asks you to click on 3 or 4 that are similar. For instance it may say click on all of the pictures that are trucks. We believe this is a counter measure to bots that access the stream and hog bandwidth, but this is just a guess. Either way the pops up are there. Please note that just because a pop up appears and you click on all of the right pictures, that does not mean the stream will work. The pop up appears before Kodi even tries to connect to the stream source. Only once you click on all of the correct pictures will Kodi even try to connect to the stream source. Over all we really like the Evolve Kodi addon. The amount of content within this addon is huge and the quality of the links are extremely good. With that being said, it must take these guys a lot of time to keep up on all of these links. So there will be links that do not work. If you encounter a link that does not work, please accept the fact that the link is down. The developer may or may not fix that link. Please remember that these developers are human and have normal lives as well. We highly suggest checking out the Evolve Kodi addon and we…

Kodi live stream data

Kodi Tips and Tricks Kodi is a very extensive program and has many features that most people do not know about. Is this article we are going to cover the top Kodi tips and tricks that will make your Kodi user experience even better. Kodi Tips 1 – Closing Kodi Properly Kodi is sort of an operating system of its own on your SkystreamX Android TV Box. As with all operating systems it is important that you close them out properly. Operating systems run processes in the background that the end user never sees. Kodi does the same thing and just pressing the home button while Kodi is performing processes in the background can cause errors, corrupt files, remove shortcuts and can make the screen black when you open it up again. It is extremely important to close Kodi properly each and every time you are done using Kodi. How to Close Kodi Properly Step 1 – Click on the Power Icon button at the bottom left hand side of the screen. The Power Icon button is right next to the “Favorites” star button. Step 2 – Click OK on the pop up that appears. Kodi Tips 2 – How to Check a Streams Quality in Kodi If you are new to the Kodi platform for streaming you may not be aware that each stream in Kodi is different. Two different stream sources for the same video content could be located on servers that are thousands of miles apart. One may buffer while the other one plays perfectly and is cranking out data. This little Kodi tip will show you how much data the stream source is giving you. It will show you if you are gaining data while watching your video content or losing it which will eventually cause the stream to stop or buffer. This also works with live streams within Kodi but works a little differently. Instead of displaying the data in Kb’s or Mb’s on an on demand stream, Kodi displays a live streams data in percentages. If a live stream is giving you a lot of data you will see the percentage be 99-100%. But if the live stream cannot keep up and is unable to give you enough data you will see the percentage drop to 0%. Once this happens the stream will eventually buffer. Read this article on live streams in Kodi for a better idea on how live streaming works. How to Check a Streams Quality in Kodi You are going to need a Keyboard or an Android Airmouse in order to do this on your SkystreamX Android TV Box. Once the stream is up and running simply press the O (O not Zero) on your keyboard or airmouse. You will see a diagnostic screen pop up at the top of the screen. We have highlighted where you will see how much data you have built up from the stream. We have also highlighted the percentage that you will see while viewing…

What are Network Powerline Adapters?

Wi-FI Signal

What are Network Powerline Adapters? Almost everyone has a Wi-Fi router in their house these days. Wi-Fi gives you the convenience of being able to connect many wireless devices to the internet by just connecting to the router and entering the password. Due to its convenience Wi-Fi is extremely common these days. Most cable company modems come with Wi-Fi capabilities, but they normally charge the customer a monthly fee for the privilege of using the Wi-Fi. Click below if you would like to know how to save money each month on your cable bill. While Wi-Fi is great and super convenient, but it does have some downfalls that we will discuss. The first downfall that Wi-Fi has is that it loses speed over distance and through obstacles. The farther you are from your Wi-Fi router, the slower speeds you will get. The more obstacles like walls, glass and furniture the Wi-Fi signal has to go through to get to the device you are using, the slower the speeds are going to be. In the GIF below you can see how a Wi-Fi signal travels through obstacles. You can see how the signal deteriorates over distance and through obstacles. Many customers that we speak to have routers that are on a second or third story, in a basement or are on one end of the house. Most cable company techs look for the easiest place to put the Wi-Fi modem, not taking into consideration where the Wi-Fi will be used in the house. When this happens customers are left with weak Wi-Fi speeds in certain areas of the house. While slow internet speeds and spotty Wi-Fi is not as noticeable or important when casually browning social media, It becomes much more noticeable when you are streaming or gaming which require constant strong internet speeds. If you are on your phone and a website takes twice as long to load it may be annoying, but the website will eventually load. When you are streaming or gaming you need a constant stream of quality bandwidth. This is why we always recommend connecting your Skystream Android TV Box directly to your modem with an Ethernet cord. This provides the fastest and most stable internet connection for your unit. But what do you do when your internet modem is in your basement, second or third floor and your TV is on the first floor? A few years ago you would have to run an Ethernet cord through your walls or attic to bring hardwired internet to another place in your house. If you have ever run wires through your walls or attic, you know that it is not fun and takes a long time. This is where Network Powerline Adapters come into play. Network Powerline Adapters come in pairs. One unit is plugged into a power plug close to your internet Modem. Then an Ethernet cable is plugged into the Network Powerline Adapter. The other end of the Ethernet cable is plugged into the back…
